Chuyskaya ecological laboratory assessed the quality of environmental components at Jeruy

06.07.2021

From June 28 to July 2, 2021, an independent company, Chuyskaya Ecological Laboratory LLC, conducted work to assess the quality of atmospheric air, natural water in rivers and springs, stream sediment, soil and radiation background as part of routine environmental monitoring in the licensed and adjacent Talas Gold Mine areas.

Field studies were carried out at 20 different surface water sampling points. Air and soil quality has been checked at the boundaries of the sanitary protection zones of the field facilities. Observation wells at the tailings storage facility have been surveyed for groundwater and quality content. In the nearby villages of Kara-Oi and Sasyk-Bulak, background radiation was measured and samples were taken in order to determine atmospheric air quality.

It was established under field conditions that the radiation of the area does not exceed the natural background and the standards established for the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic. The concentration of substances in natural water and air determined in the field does not exceed the permissible concentrations and complies with the regulatory standards. There is no groundwater in the observation wells under the tailings dump, and the wells are dry, which indicates that the tailings dump is operating in the intended manner.

A full assessment of water, soil, sediment and air quality will be given after appropriate analytical treatment of samples by several accredited laboratories of the Kyrgyz Republic and provided with additional reports.
