Under emergency conditions, work at the Jeruy production site goes on in a closed regime, in compliance with the recommendations of the Republican Headquarters for the prevention of entry and further spread of the coronavirus infection.

With the introduction of the state of emergency:

  • Some contractors were demobilized from theTGMC construction facilities, which include the Mining Complex, the Construction Industry Base Site, and the Processing Complex.
  • At the Processing Facility (the Mill and Tailings Facility), the general contractor AAE has 140 people on site as of June 18, 2020. The demobilized contractors now have 44 people in and are still doing the construction and assembly work, including:

The remaining contractors are expected to arrive in the next few days to resume construction, installation and commissioning work at the facilities of the Processing Complex.

Alliance Altyn provided mandatory instructions to all contractors stopping by the site to undergo an observation and submit to a PCR test.

  • The commissioning of the gold extraction plant (the Mill) was forcibly suspended, requiring the participation of Outotec installation supervisors from Finland (SAG mills, ball mills), Diemme specialists from Italy (press filters), and Toshiba specialists from Australia. Under the EPC contract, the main process equipment must be checked and started up under the supervision of representatives of the manufacturing plants.
  • Work not requiring the presence of foreign specialists goes on.
  • General construction work, electrical work, installation of utilities, assembly work on the laying of pipelines and strapping pumps are underway.

On April 18, the State Inspectorate for Environmental and Technical Safety under the KR Government and the Energy Supervision Department issued an order to turn on the 6 kV switchgear located at the Mill's electrical load center due to the end of construction and installation works. Voltage was supplied from the step-down substation 110/35/6 kV (the Mill) to the 6 kV switchgear, with the connection of the 6/0,4 kV on-site complex transformer substations (CTS). After that, individual tests of the process equipment of individual production sites were started at the Mill.

Open-pit mining continues without interruption. A total of 448,500 tonnes of ore with an average grade of 2.32 g/t have been extracted and stockpiled since the beginning of the OPM.

Since the beginning of mining operations, in accordance with the requirements of the KR Law on Subsoil and the Regulation on Recultivation of Disturbed Lands during Subsoil Use, Alliance Altyn LLC has been making monthly recultivation payments of 1.2 million KGS to a dedicated recultivation account. When the Jeruy project is finished, the amount of these contributions will be sufficient to revive the soil cover and restore the natural landscape.
