M. Shubin: "All works at the Jeruy deposit are carried out in strict compliance with the legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic and observance of environmental and technical safety"

14.06.2019

On June 12, 2019, more than 20 representatives of various Kyrgyz media, together with Marat Murataliev, the authorized representative in Talas oblast, visited the Jeruy mine and got acquainted with the progress of the Mill and the tailings storage facility construction.

During their tour, they visited the area where the main building of the gold extraction plant (the Mill) is under active construction.

Mikhail Shubin, CEO of Alliance Altyn LLC, provided journalists with detailed information about the ongoing work at the Mill site.

As of today, the construction of the Mill is 45% complete. In 2018, Alliance-Altyn signed an EPC contract for the construction of the Mill and Tailings Storage Facility with the Kazakh company AAEngineering Group, which plans to complete the facility by the end of this year. We maintain strict quality control over the execution of work, up to 24-hour video surveillance. All works at the Jeruy field are carried out in strict compliance with the legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic and international standards, including observance of environmental and technical safety," M. Shubin said.

In addition, the CEO of Alliance Altyn said that after the completion of work on the field, all the construction sites will be transferred to Talas oblast for various projects.

Nurlan Mamyrbaev, chief technologist of Alliance Altyn, told the participants about the construction of the tailings dump. He noted that the company pays special attention to this facility and uses modern technology.

Waterproofing geomembrane of Austrian production with a thickness of 2 mm has already been delivered to the construction site. This material is important in the construction of the tailings pond impervious blanket. The tailings dam site is designed in three phases. The total area of the tailings dump is 64.1 ha. The storage volume will be 24 million tons.

Nurlan Mamyrbayev reported that Alliance Altyn provides for all necessary measures to minimize the impact of the mine on the environment and the local population. This is ensured by the technological scheme of the Mill and the tailings pond, where the final tailings of the Mill are filtered to produce a cake with a moisture content of less than 20% and filtrate. The filtrate is sent to the Mill's water recycling system for reuse, and the cake is transported and stockpiled at the tailings dump site with the formation of waste dumps. It should be noted that the life cycle of cyanide is limited within the main building of the Mill, where it is applied and decontaminated according to environmental standards. The Ailampa tract itself, where the Mill and the tailings pond are located, is an isolated natural valley, which serves as a natural barrier. Thus, the ingress of any toxic substances into the river is completely excluded.

At the same time, environmental monitoring was conducted at the site by specialists from the Chuyskaya Ecological Laboratory. Assessment of the current state of the environment throughout 2019 covers the study of its components such as surface water, bottom sediments and atmospheric air. Three stages of water sampling, one stage of atmospheric air sampling (in summer) and one stage of bottom sediment sampling during the autumn low-water season are planned. In April 2019, water surveys were conducted at 25 monitoring sites. According to experts, no deviations from environmental norms have been registered in the area surrounding the borders of the Jeruy deposit during the research period.
